Jo's Magic Brush works to a clear health, hygiene and safeguarding standard so organisers, parents and venue teams know what to expect before the event starts.

Insured for private, public and community events
The business holds public liability insurance, helping organisers book with confidence for parties, schools, fetes, festivals and other public-facing events.
Age
Children under 3 are not painted
Younger children are more likely to have sensitive skin and to touch painted areas, so full face painting is not offered to children under 3.
Supervision
A parent or responsible adult should remain present
Children should be supervised while waiting and while being painted. Jo's Magic Brush does not provide childcare and will not assume sole responsibility for a child.
Hygiene
Clean kit, controlled water and clear hygiene routines
Hygiene is built into the working setup. Jo uses a strict multi-pot water system for brush washing and paint activation, with single-use sponge handling and regular hand sanitising between clients.
What organisers can expect
Products are stored carefully, checked for contamination or expiry, and removed from use if they no longer meet standard. Used water and waste materials are handled responsibly at the end of the event.

Simple guidance for parents, organisers and venue teams
Please mention allergies or skin concerns before painting
Where an allergy or sensitivity is flagged, painting may be declined or a small patch test may be offered before proceeding.
Face painting is not applied over broken, sore or irritated skin
This includes open wounds, deep scratches, severe eczema, rashes, cold sores or visible eye infections.
Painting should take place in an open and visible area
The setup should remain in public view rather than behind closed curtains, doors or private rooms.
No child will be painted if they are distressed or refusing
If a child becomes upset, the session is paused or stopped rather than forced through.
Safeguarding
Professional boundaries are part of the service
Physical contact is kept to what is needed for safe application only, such as gently steadying the forehead or chin. Children are not lifted into the chair by Jo, and inappropriate contact is never acceptable.
Practical cover
Photos, consent and first-aid readiness
Photographs or videos of children are not taken without clear parent or guardian consent, and a basic first aid kit is carried to events. If a reaction or incident occurs, it is acted on promptly and recorded appropriately.
